Hocking Hills, Ohio

Hocking Hills in one of the few State Parks that is just as awesome in the spring as it is in the summer as it is in the winter and so on. This image captured in the fall shows people throughly enjoying themselves in the great big expanse we call nature.

I hope the smoke never clears

At Hueston Woods State Park in Ohio a campfire lends some drama to an already lovely fall scene.

Cincinnati Sunset

Cincinnati is not a place known for it's sunsets. Most shots of Cincinnati are taken at night from one of the bridges that cross the mighty Ohio River because of the lack of sky. We were able to find this location just up the street from us on the Kentucky side of the Ohio River Valley. Because of the hills here it is very hard to get a decent sunset. This just happened to be a lucky day for it.

Male Cardinals fighting in Snow

It was getting close to spring and these male cardinals are fighting to establish their territories. Both males want to take food to a female & with the snow the food was in limited supply.

Trees in the moonlight

Taken in Ohio these mulberry trees are backlit by the moon. Silohuettes can be dramatic and imapctful if done correctly. Your object becomes part of the picture without being the main focus.

Let's face it, I'm cute

This photo was taken with a Nikkor 60mm micro lens. This little guy must have been an older model because he was slow enough to catch. After a little coaxing he sat on the stick & begged to be photographed. It could just be that the SB-800 had blinded him and he couldn't find his way out of the net. Whatever works, right?

A Cardinal Rule

I basically got jealous of all the people on twitter showing off their cardinal photo's today and I wanted to get in the game. Sad but true.

Waterfall-sicle

This ice wall is in Hocking Hills State Park, Athens, Ohio. The waterfall freezes in cold temperatures and on this day there was several times more water than normal. I love the design and the fluid color patterns.

The Photographer

A photographer is always in search of the best light. In this case it found him. This picture was taken in an abandoned powder factory in Maineville, Ohio. The facility has been padlocked since then. It was a great place to capture unusual textures and beautiful light.
