Don't get mossed in the forest

This scene is from high up in the Costa Rican mountains near San Isidro. They are opening a new National Park there aptly names Parque Nacional Quetzal, because of the frequency of seeing the famed quetzal birds there. We were driving back from Playa Uvita and stopped in the mountains for lunch. The temps were so nice we decided to take a walk on the new trails. I actually got to hug my husband for the first time since we have been in Costa Rica. It is normally to hot during our hikes. We have plans to go back ; ).

Full Moon at Cumberland Falls

Cumberland Falls is one of the few places in which you can see a moonbow (a rainbow caused by a full moon at a waterfall). We highly recommend exploring the surrounding area and camping for a few days here.

Trees in the moonlight

Taken in Ohio these mulberry trees are backlit by the moon. Silohuettes can be dramatic and imapctful if done correctly. Your object becomes part of the picture without being the main focus.

Sundown I think it's a shame

Sun going down in Red River Gorge geological area in KY. Most days the sun is enveloped by the thick moisture laden fog that sits atop the river. There are beautiful sandstone cliffs that look over the entire area. We use the book "Hinterlands" by Jerrell Goodpastor to guide us to the least visited cliffs with the best light.

Big Blue

This Blue Heron went fishing with us. We caught a few rainbow trout and filleted them on the spot. He was very cautious to go after the remains even after we headed towards the parking lot. It was almost as if he was being polite and wanted to make certain that we had left those parts for him.

Ruaha National Park Tanzania

Ruaha National Park in Tanzania is one of the least visited National Park's in the country. It is located in the Southern Highlands, Iringa region. The lack of human traffic makes this one of the best parks to go to. The animals are still weary of safari vehicles and still stand in front of their young when people approach.

Amani means Peace - Amani National Forest Tanzania

This is one of my favorite pictures. This trail is in Amani National Forest which is one of Eastern Africa's most diverse eco-systems. The land and the forest is said to be protected but every villager we spoke to said that the only work they could find, outside of the low paying tea plantations, was to work illegally for the timber cutters.
