Night Lizard, whoaaaaaa!

This guy is on the Red List of vunerable species due to habitat loss from forest clearing due to cattle grazing here in Costa Rica. This Tropical Night Lizard is generally found on the Pacific coast of CR but we are lucky enough to have him here in Limon on the Atlantic side. We'll keep you safe little buddy.

Poison Dart Frog

This poison dart frog is much bigger than the previous ones we have seen. We frequently have the little red and blue ones on the bases of our trees and every so often we get to see a cute little black and green guy but when we came across this giant we got excited. He didn't even fit in our normal frog holding container. Barry placed him on one of our colorful crotons and the colors contrasted eachother just enough to set him apart while making him look right at home.

Rio Destierro in Costa Rica

Barry has been wanting to photograph this river for 3 years now. He's gone and set up and the river has been to low or to high, started raining really hard when we arrive or something screwy always happens. Well, finally here is the Rio Destierro at the San Bosco bend. I personally love the mini waterfalls on the left. He did an HDR also because once you are there, why not.

Seeing a tarantula in a different light

The first shot is taken using natural light. The second shot has a blue gel on the strobe light to attempt to make this shot look like it has been taken under the moonlight. How often do you play around with lighting?

One more, HDR or no HDR

The same river, different scene. The HDR processing is a little more subtle in this shot. Any comments? If you were a dentist and needed a complete wall mural which would you buy? : )

Let the river run

This is Rio La Perla in San Bosco, Limon, Costa Rica. The river runs from Turrialba volcano down to where it meets up with Rio Destierro and the two form one larger river that runs on into the Caribbean Sea approximately 30 miles away.

To HDR or not to HDR

These are the same images but the second processed in HDR. Which one do you prefer?
