To HDR or not to HDR

These are the same images but the second processed in HDR. Which one do you prefer?

    The HDR.. I have been resistant..but am beginning to think it is an artistic avenue worth exploring..Wish I knew how to do it ;-) Like any art, photography must evolve..

    The first. The hdr looks just a tad over-processed to my eye

    In this case I like the HDR better. It brings out the vibrant colors and tonal range, while still being done tastefully and maintaining realism. Actually, I think this was the perfect use of HDR because it's not over the top.
