The Snowy Smokies

The beautiful Smoky Mountains in the winter. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park has no entry fee. The donator of the land requested this when the land was handed over to the National Park system. It is the most visited park in the U.S.

Fall in the Smokies

This overlook offers a view of high and low elevations. On this fall day, there was 32 feet of snow on top of Mt. LeConte and the season was changing the color of the leaves on the trees below. This was taken/processed in HDR.

It was getting close to spring and these male cardinals are fighting to establish their territories. Both males want to take food to a female & with the snow the food was in limited supply.

A Cardinal Rule

I basically got jealous of all the people on twitter showing off their cardinal photo's today and I wanted to get in the game. Sad but true.
