Zion National Park, Utah

Zion National Park, Utah was just about everything that you could want in an U.S. National Park. The camping facilities were well taken care of including always having toilet paper in the flush-able commmodes. The bus system that takes you through the park was the best idea that I saw in any of the U.S. parks and it was only in Zion. No yucky cars and traffic like in Yellowstone and recorded tapes took you back in time and informed you about the animal life in the park.

Black Bear

We came across this brown Black Bear on the trail in the Hetch Hetchy part of Yellowstone. He was between us and the way out. I was so afraid and so exhilarated at the same time.

A Bear encounter in Yosemite

This black bear surprised us on a trail in the Hetch Hetchy area of Yosemite National Park. The black bears in this area have more of a brown coat. This is probably a male judging on his size. We were pretty much scared out of our gourds. We slowly moved back and started talking and singing so he knew we were not sneeking up on him. He just went on his merry way doing cute bear things. We had to wait for at least 15 minutes to make sure that he was off of the trail before we continued.

Fermentation

This is a big vat of fermenting grain in the Makers Mark distillery in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Makers is still distilling the old fashioned way and even dipping each bottle by hand. Touring the bourbon trail in central KY makes for an awesome get away.
