The burrowing owls of Florida are protected by state and federal law. These babies live in a subdivision in Western Florida. People decorate the area's surrounding the holes to celebrate the birds and improve awareness.

This is a re-post from a long time ago. Since it is a Sunday & we don't normally post on Sunday I decided to send this little fellow along. I love the way he looks as I tend to get that way myself sometimes.

A 180 view

Florida's burrowing owls have tacky neighbors. These neighbors feel the need to create a garbage pile around the owls holes. Just go to a Florida neighborhood in which the owls are living and you will see that the people have decorated their holes with American Flags, fake flowers and Ribbons. I guess it welcomes the owls to the neighborhood?
