The best place you've never heard of
A day trip to Kasha Katuwe National Monument in New Mexico is definately worth the time. It's nestled in between Sante Fe and Albuquerque on an indian reservation. The beginning of the hike takes you through slot canyons and weirdly shaped paths leading up to the tent shaped, sandstone tips that lend itself to the amazing view at the top. If you plan on having a picnic do so before or after because there is no shade during the hike, which is approximately 2 hours.
